The City of Acworth is Awesome!

Upcoming events – http://cityofacworth.org/index.php/parks-recreation-and-community-resource-department

New Community Center is incorporated into Logan Farm Park.  Basketball, independent Indoor Walking Path, voting center and community events all happen here.

Did you know we enjoy over 5 parks?  (In order of “right near by” to “pretty close.”)

  1. Logan Farm Park (Main park for us) –  3 lefts to Logan and you’re there with access to downtown: simply turn left onto Lack Acworth Drive, next left onto Logan Avenue, 2nd and 3rd stop signs = you can’t miss it.  This small park is great for walking, distracting the kids with 3 playgrounds located in different areas, forested walkway, soccer field and outside basketball court.  Bikes and leashed pets welcome as with most parks.
  2. Lake Acworth (really 5 parks – see website) –  Enjoy Cauble Park near McCall Primary School.  A beach for swimming and sandcastles, docks for fishing and toe wetting, bridges to nowhere, paths for walking, one nice playground for the kids are what can be found at this park.  Oh, and by the way, this park is where many of the city events take place, like concerts and fireworks watching.  Don’t forget the Acworth windshield sticker to avoid the $10 entrance fee. http://www.allatoonalake.org/parks/acworth_beach.html  &   http://www.acworth.com/attractions/lake-acworth/
  3. Acworth Sports Complex and Horizon Field – This is the park with a playground for children who need wheelchair access (Isn’t this cool!).  This larger park is mainly for sports but the playground and walking paths are another reason to add this to the list.  http://cityofacworth.org/index.php/parks-par   Acworth Baseball link:  http://www.acworthbaseball.org/
  4. Swift-Cantrell Park (High trafficked and active park) –  Need to sk8, socialize your dog, walk a mile while chin-lifting, watch young children on the playground for the little ones, or another for the older children, all while throwing friz-bees or flying those remote controlled gadgets , then Swift-Cantrell is the place for you and your family.  (Ok, it isn’t in Acworth but its still has a lot going on for being so close.) http://www.kennesaw-ga.gov/city-shttps://www.kennesaw-ga.gov/swift-cantrell-park/ervices/recreation-a-culture/parks/parks-trails-a-facilities
  5. Red Top Mountain –  Georgia State park on Red Top Mountain is connected to Lake Allatoona.  Long walks, bike riding and getting the dog the exercise they really want happens at this park.  Iron Hill Bike Trail is the one I like because of the bridges and well managed 4 mile gavel loop.  The other is our favorite because we can talk about many things on the 5.5 mile walking loop of Homestead Trail which begins at the Visitor Center.  Don’t forget to buy the annual pass there.  The website shows how many things happen on this mountain to include boat and cabin rentals.  http://gastateparks.org/RedTopMountain
